Kenna Winston’s world revolves around money, and the men who spend it. Men are mere pawns in the game that she calls life. However, her game is about to change once she’s offered a business contract with some interesting caveats. Kenna has to decide whether she is ready to up the ante and play in the big leagues. Or decide if the proposal being offered is crossing the line, even for her. With her heels high and morals low, she wonders what will happen if her heart gets involved?

Oh that’s right, she doesn’t have one.

Zackary Knight has always had things handed to him. That’s not the life he wants. Can’t anyone see that he goes deep, that he’s more than just a shallow dollar sign? Who is this beautiful women who just appeared on his doorstep? Is she someone he can finally open his heart up to?

Because his heart, it’s a big one.

Everything about this introduction was so awkward.

“Make yourself at home. Open some wine. I just need a few more minutes to finish up and set an extra place,” Zack said before disappearing into the kitchen area.

“What is this?” I hissed through my teeth at Tariq. I needed some answers. I needed them now. “Why did you bring me here?”

Tariq grabbed my elbow and led me into the corner, out of sight. “Do you know who that is?” I shrugged, clueless. “That is Zackary Knight, son of Corbin Knight.”

Wait? What? As in hotel billionaire, Corbin Knight? Dollar signs briefly flashed before my eyes. Rows and rows of them. But I was lost. “What does this have to do with me?”

“His father has been concerned lately that his son is not getting out enough, meeting people, meeting women. He’s my boss. He asked if I could arrange to find his son a companion.”

“A companion?” I shrieked. “Like as in a—”

“Lower your voice,” Tariq demanded.

“Is this your favor?” I strained over my shoulder to get another look at the guy in the next room.

“Think of it more as an opportunity. His father is willing to pay the right person. Big bucks.” Tariq placed his hands on my shoulders and looked me in the eye. “You’re unemployed. And I’m no fool, Kenna. I know that you did not leave Backsides on your own. You need this, don’t you?”

I looked away and swallowed.

“It’s easy money,” Tariq said smoothly.

Money. That word always changed everything.

“Would I have to sleep with him?” I kept my voice even.

Tariq shuffled his stance. “If that’s what he wants, yes.”

So by companion, he meant prostitute. My insides twisted.

“Does he know about this?” I motioned my head toward the kitchen.

“No, and that’s part of the deal. Zack can never find out. You just do what you do, flirt, be beautiful and follow my lead tonight. We’ll discuss it more later.”

Not many things rattled me. This did. My hands started to shake. Another pay-for-sex transaction in less than twenty-four hours. Was this the way people saw me, the way I presented myself?

“Tariq, why did you call me for this?”

“Because this is what you do. This is your game. Men and money.”

“My game?”

“Yes, Kenna, your game.”

I closed my eyes. He was right. It was useless to deny it. As far back as I could remember, men and money had indeed been my game. If you considered all the things I’d done and received as “gifts” with men over the years, then you needed to call me what I was.

A hooker.

Witches must choose the path they will follow, and Darlena Agara is no exception. She’s been putting it off long enough, and in her case, ignoring it has not made it go away. In a moment of frustration, Darlena chooses to follow Red Magic, figuring she had outsmarted the powers that be, since there’s no such thing as Red Magic. But alas, Darlena’s wrong (again) and she becomes a newly declared Red Witch.

Her friends are shocked and her parents horrified by the choice Darlena has made. As a Red Witch, she now governs one third of the world’s chaos. She is the walking personification of pandemonium, turmoil, and bedlam, just as the patrons of Red Magic would have it to be.

But Darlena believes there must be more to Red Magic than chaos and destruction, and she sets out on a journey to achieve balance. Only doing so puts her at odds with the dark goddess Hecate, who simply will not allow Darlena to quit. She encourages Darlena to embrace who and what she is and to leave good magic to the good witches. If only Darlena could, life would be simple, and she would not be the Daughter of Chaos.

DAUGHTER OF CHAOS is the first in a YA paranormal trilogy.

On a sightseeing excursion with girls from her hostel, Darlena arrives at The Vaults, a mysterious underground city beneath Edinburgh. But there is something there that make Darlena’s instincts go haywire, as she lets loose a defensive burst of Red Magic, putting everyone around her in danger.

If there was ever a time when Darlena needed the help of another Red witch, it was now. But beware the witch who wields Red Magic.

Truth & Lies #1
Jamie K. Schmidt
Released Sept 30th, 2015
Truth & Lies Series
Aged out of the system and
battle worn from unsuccessful foster care, four women on the cusp of adulthood
find passion and their paths in life through the help of an anonymous fairy
godmother type who calls herself the Benefactrix.
Truth Kills: Book One
healing and emotionally fragile girl unknowing falls for the nephew of the man
who killed her family.
College freshmen, Phoebe’s new lover is sexy, creative and willing
to let her act out all her dirty fantasies.
Unfortunately, Keith’s not telling her the truth about who he really is
and the secret past that binds them together. When his Uncle breaks out of
prison to search for the “girl who got away,” Keith risks losing the
best thing in his life by admitting to Phoebe that his Uncle killed her parents.
Jones lost her family during a home invasion when she was only thirteen. She’s
the only one of the four girls who remembers a loving family. The Benefactrix
has given her a full boat scholarship to the local college, where Phoebe meets
a graduate student who wants to do a story about her family. But Keith Parker
isn’t without his own demons. His Uncle, now on death row, was one of the men
who broke into Phoebe’s house eight years ago. What started out as a project
for understanding and healing is complicated when Phoebe & Keith act on the
explosive desire between them.
craves to be in control sexually and Keith is more than willing to let her have
her way with him. What started out as a hot fling rapidly becomes something
deeper. Keith knows he’ll lose her if he reveals who he really is, but the lie
has taken on a life of its own and threatens to destroy not only their
relationship but Phoebe’s fragile self confidence and freshly won self esteem.

Turning back around, she stood up on her tiptoes until she thought she saw the back of Larissa’s head.  Larissa had been a door stop baby, dropped off at a hospital.  She never knew her family.  She didn’t even come with a note pinned to her blanket.  Larissa had been Phoebe’s first friend at the home.  She loved hearing about Phoebe’s parents and the little details of a “normal” life.  For some reason Meatless Monday and Taco Tuesday were the best things Larissa ever heard of and would never get tired of hearing Phoebe talk about how it used to be.

Kelly, Maryanne, and Larissa. That was the sum total of the people who would cheer for her when she walked up on the rickety stage to accept her diploma from Principal Barnes.  And at the ripe old age of eighteen, Phoebe was about to be aged out of the system and those people would be lost to her as well.

She was not going to cry.  If she started, she wouldn’t stop and that would ruin the ceremony for her friends.

“Just another day,” Kelly murmured.

Phoebe nodded and pulled herself together.  Nothing new here.  She forced her chin up and willed this endless ceremony to end. It wasn’t as if they would never see each other again. None of them had any money to go very far, except maybe Kelly.  Her boyfriend Chad was loaded and liked giving her expensive treats.  He was taking her away on vacation tomorrow to Belize to celebrate.  But that was only for a week because Kelly had a job to get back to at the camera shop.  She’d been working there since she was sixteen.  It didn’t pay anything, but she was able to work on her own projects in between transferring people’s pictures from film to digital.

After Kelly got back from Belize, Phoebe and the other girls would start their transition into adult housing, leaving the group home that had housed them since they were ten-years-old.

Graduation was supposed to be a day of hope and of new beginnings.  She should have been looking forward to a fun summer and then off to college in the fall, somewhere far away from Connecticut and the memories.  Except her grades hadn’t been that good.  So she’d take night classes at her safety school, and maybe next year get accepted into one of the larger universities.  Paying for that would be another thing to worry about.  Just not today.

Sales Blitz: A FRIENDLY ENGAGEMENT by Christine Warner #Giveaway

A Friends First Novel #1
Christine Warner
Released June 2015
Entangled Publishing

Esterly is married to his job. But when Omar sets his sights on a potential,
family-oriented client, his confirmed bachelorhood becomes a problem.
Fortunately, his friend and employee, Devi Boss, has the perfect plan…
so it wasn’t exactly Devi’s plan to become her friend’s fake fiancée. Lies
aren’t her style. However, Omar offers her a big, beautiful raise—enough to
track down the missing father she’s never known—and Devi reluctantly agrees to
the whole engagement hoax…
was supposed to be a no-strings-attached win-win for both Devi and Omar, but
when they cross the line between friendship and…well, something more, Devi
realizes she’s made a huge mistake that just might cost her both job and
friend—falling for her fiancé.

“You’re game for anything, right?”

Devi compressed her lips and studied Omar through a narrow gaze, taking in the way his overly bright eyes concentrated on her face as if memorizing every pore. Her gaze traveled south to the non-existent rise and fall of his chest and how he pushed his suit jacket aside as he placed his hands low on his hips. He’d stopped breathing while he waited for her reply. That made her more nervous than anything. “Normally I am game for anything, but considering the man asking the question, I’m a little nervous.” She licked her lips.

Omar shook his head, swallowing her hands in the warmth of his. “No. This is a great idea. I can’t believe I didn’t see it before.”

“I’ll hold back on saying I’m glad I could help until I know what you’ve got pinging around your brain.” She tried to pull free of his grip, but he only grasped her fingers tighter. Her inner voice told her whatever plan he’d cooked up included her and she wouldn’t be thrilled with the role.

“Bartow wants a family-first firm. He wants a planner who is married, blah, blah blah.” He dismissed his unfinished words with the thrust of his chin.

Devi nodded, her mouth going dry. Was he planning to hire a wife, or about to propose?

“I might not be married, but what if I were engaged?”

She didn’t want to jump to conclusions about the proposal so she pasted on a tight smile. “Do you have a serious girlfriend hidden away I don’t know about?” The thought unsettled her, but she pushed aside the heaviness in her gut. Omar and relationships mixed like fire and ice. Not that women didn’t find him attractive and vice versa, but his true love would always be work. Most sane women wanted something more than a workaholic commitment-phobe.

He shook his head a bit too vigorously. “No. No.” His grip tightened, and she flexed her fingers so he’d loosen his hold. “Hear me out before you shoot me down.”

“I’m more curious than ever.” Again, she threw sand over that niggling feeling in her belly. She never jumped to conclusions. Living by the seat of your pants didn’t allow it, but…

Why start now? She rolled her shoulders in an effort to relax. Omar pulled her off to the side and out of the crowd moving past them on the sidewalk. His hands shook with excitement, and he swallowed hard before clearing his throat. Always calm and collected, his buildup unsettled Devi, and she tugged one hand from his grip and pressed it against the gurgle growing in her stomach.

“How about we announce our engagement? I could pull in some favors and have it in the press Monday morning. That’d still give Bartow enough time to invite us to the meet and greet. And—”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” Devi’s stomach did a nosedive, and she yanked her other hand from his death grip and stepped back. She twisted one of the bangle bracelets on her wrist. “Our engagement? First off, I didn’t even know we were dating. And second, I am not going to help you get ahead by lying.”

Flight & Glory #3
Rebecca Yarros
Releasing Sept 28th, 2015
Entangled Embrace

Lt. Grayson Masters is focused on graduating the Apache helicopter course, and the last thing he needs is his gorgeous new roommate Samantha Fitzgerald distracting him. While her smart mouth and free spirit are irresistibly irritating, he can’t deny their off-the-charts chemistry, no matter how hard he tries.

Having just been expelled from college, Sam has no business digging for Grayson’s secrets while she’s hiding her own, but that doesn’t stop her from trying to tear down his walls. Each barrier she busts through drops one of her own, though, and she’s not prepared for the truth: another woman laid claim to Grayson’s heart long ago.

Falling in love is something neither Grayson nor Sam can afford, and when that line is crossed and secrets are exposed, they’ll learn that sometimes it’s the answered prayers that will put you through hell.

Grayson’s choices were so calculated, so deliberate, I doubted he’d ever so much as been late for a class.

“Samantha?” His eyes softened, revealing the give in him, and it cracked my own defenses.

“Have you ever made a mistake, Grayson? And I don’t mean the kind that costs you an apology. I mean one that destroys you? Where you lie awake at night, unable to sleep, because you’re terrified of what’s going to happen the next day, and the one after that? Where you’d give anything, and I do mean anything to go back and make a different choice? Where you’re sick all the time at the thought of what you’ve done? Because I have. I’ve crumbled my entire future, shredded any hope of finishing college, and killed off who I used to be. And I don’t…I don’t know how to come back from something like that.”

“You don’t.”
I jerked back, but he held me immobile against him. “Stop, and listen to me. I’m not going to belittle you by

saying nothing is that bad, because some things are. Things happen that change who we are, and what we’re capable of. So you’re not going to ‘come back’ from that any more than you’re going to erase whatever you did. You have to decide if you’re going to try to keep patching yourself up or if you’re going to tear down and rebuild.”

“I don’t know how to do that.”

“You wade through the pain, and the guilt, and the excuses you make to yourself. Stop drowning in alcohol to numb the fear, and suck up the bitter taste of accountability.

You move on with who you are now. It’s not easy. If you think you screwed up that badly, then maybe you did, but you also have to leave room for the chance that you didn’t. Have you talked about it?”

I shook my head. There were two of us who knew the whole truth, and that circle was big enough. “I’m not sure I’m ready to let go of everyone’s vision of who I am. It’s so much prettier than the truth.”

“Not even Ember?”

“Definitely not think-through-everything-twice Ember. She wouldn’t understand, and I’m not sure I could handle her reaction.”

He swallowed and broke our stare like it had become too much because we both knew the truth—it had. “That’s the hardest part, letting someone see who you really are— scars and all. I’m…” He cleared his throat. “You need to trust someone enough to tell them the truth. Make peace with it before it eats you alive. I listen really well if you don’t have anyone else.”

I scrambled to throw up a wall between us. It was safer when he was hurling snotty comments at me. That, I knew how to handle. But this Grayson? The one holding me carefully, keeping me warm while the storm raged outside, offering to help carry the crippling weight destroying me? I didn’t know what the hell to do with that one.
