A Texas Christmas Reunion (Whiskey River Christmas #2) by Eve Gaddy

Blurb:

Years ago, Harlan Sullivan broke Savannah Taylor’s heart. Now, he’s back in Whiskey River as the new owner of the local construction company–and Savannah’s new boss. Giving up Savannah was the hardest thing Harlan ever had to do, but it’s way past time to explain why he did. Besides, after fourteen years, they have both moved on. Or so he thinks—until their unexpected meeting at Felicity’s Christmas Ball shocks him into realizing his buried feelings—and secret passion—are very much alive.

As long as she keeps a tight grip over her emotions, Savannah is confident she can weather having her old flame become her new boss. She’s even willing to indulge the desire that time seems to have intensified. But there’s no way she will let Harlan anywhere close to her heart.

Harlan soon realizes he wants more from the sexy, sultry Savannah than a temporary affair and sets out to convince her that this time, their love will last forever. But it will take a bit of Christmas magic from the Harwood Inn ghost to bring this reluctant banker’s daughter and determined Barrels Bad Boy to their happily-ever-after.

My Review:

This is an awesome love again second chance love story. I love how the story was written.  The first book was written about 1918 and this book is present day. I would recommend reading the first book first.  Felicity is here trying to make sure there is love in everyone’s life.  This story is about Savannah Taylor and Harlan Sullivan.

Savannah was in love in high school with Harlan, but after she sleeps with him he leaves town without a word. She is crushed but does move on with her life. Now she is co-chairing the Felicity Annual Christmas Ball and Harlan shows up. He is back in town and now her boss.

Why did he leave her? She has so many questions for Harlan. Felicity and the lavender smell is there to help get them back together and questions answered. This book was a fun story to read. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more.

I did receive this book from Netgalley and from Tule Publishing.

My Review

A Texas Christmas Past (Whiskey River Christmas #1)

By Julia Justiss

This story starts out with Drew Harwood coming home from the war and ready to marry his sweetheart Felicity.  Drew had injured his leg in battle.  Every year Drew’s mother has a Christmas ball, and everyone was getting ready for the ball.  Felicity got sick with the Spanish Flu and passed. No ball that year. Drew really was depressed, home from the war with an injury and not marrying his Felicity.

There is more, but I really love, but also was sad at the beginning of this story. It was around 1919 this story takes place.

The following year Audra came to stay for Christmas but arrived early. Her brother was the foreman of the ranch.  She also was also affected by the war, she was a nurse and now she was looking for a new job as a nurse in Texas helping Shell Shocked soldiers.

I loved this well written story about The Harwood House, the Felicity Ball and how Drew and Audra came to be.  There is a Christmas magic that happens. I love their story and how it came to be. Such a sweet story for such a hard time. I did enjoy reading this 1st book of this series.

I want to thank Tule Publishers/Netgalley for an ARC of this book. What a fantastic series to start the Christmas season.

I give this book 5 stars

You’d think a girl with the most romantic name in the world would have her pick of boyfriends.

But Valentine’s Day sucks when you’re single. Just ask Juliet Valentine, whose last name happens to also be the name of the most dreaded made-up holiday ever.

A romantic at heart, this year is especially hard on Juliet. Her sister, Layla, is in a new relationship, her mom’s match-making business is doing great, and her school’s new fundraiser is “Love-Grams.”

Juliet’s miserable, a little jealous, and lonely.

Quarterback Jared Black is the most popular guy in school. A star athlete, Jared tops the most-eligible bachelor list year after year. But to Juliet Valentine, he’s all but invisible. She isn’t impressed.

Jared’s never had to work hard to get the attention of a girl before. Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and he’s determined to ask Juliet out. After all, if Tyler can win over Layla, Jared ought to have a shot with Layla’s sister.

Unlike Tyler and Layla, charm, flattery and good looks won’t work on Juliet. So with the V-Day dance coming up, Jared uses the school’s Love-Grams to let Juliet know how he feels. Should be simple enough, right?

Wrong. Each attempt ends up either in the trash or thrown in someone’s face. Juliet won’t play his game.

Trailer

Excerpt

When I
arrived at the Met, it was after nine. Hundreds of people were flocking out of
the front doors. I was panting. My eyes searched the crowd in desperation for
her. I hoped I wasn’t too late. Finally, after the crowd had thinned, I spotted
her. She was wearing a drab gray wool coat and a striped knit hat along with a
new pair of eyeglasses that were almost identical to the ones she’d left at my
loft. She looked worn-out as she trudged down the steps. Fuck. Maybe something
was wrong with her. I mounted the steps two at time, hoping to meet her half
way.
“Allee,” I
shouted out to her.
Her mouth
dropped open when she saw me. She galloped down the steps, attempting to run
past me, but I caught her and held her firmly in my arms. She squirmed, trying
to break away, but she was no match for my strength. I studied her face. Her
eyes were painfully sad and her cheeks were sallow. She had lost weight.
“Get away
from me, Madewell,” she begged. There were tears in her eyes.
I didn’t let go of her and, in fact, squeezed
her tighter. “Why haven’t you returned my calls?”
“Madewell,
please! Let go of me.” Her voice was watery and desperate.
“No, you’re
not going anywhere until you answer my question.”
“I don’t
belong with you. You’re too good for me.”
“No, baby,
you’re too good for me.” I pressed her even tighter against me.
Thunder
roared in the night sky.
“Please!
I’ve gotta go home and get ready for a massage client.”
Maybe she
had just been overworking. Fuck her client. I tugged hard at her ponytail that
hung out from under her funky hat. “You’re coming home with me.”
“I can’t.”
She blinked back tears. “You don’t understand—”
“Stop it!”
I crushed my lips against hers, hushing her, and pulled her down to a sitting
position on the step where we were sparring. She couldn’t resist my assault.
Her tongue hungrily met mine, and a hot bolt of energy surged through my
body.
Lightening
flashed, and another loud burst of thunder followed. The sky opened up, and
torrential rain fell upon us. But it didn’t stop us. Soaked, our embrace
deepened, the warmth of it fending off the icy chill of the pounding drops. I
don’t know how long it lasted, but she was the first to pull away. Wet streaks
rolled down her cheeks… tears, not the rain.
“Why me,
Madewell?” she asked, her voice hoarse and strained.
“Because,
Allee Adair, I’m suffocating without you. You’re the air I need to breathe.”
Cradling her in my arms, I removed her rain-streaked glasses and brushed away
the shimmering rivulets dripping down her face. Just the mere touch of her
infused me with light.
She looked
deep into my eyes, hers still watering. “Oh, Madewell, I’m so afraid.”
“Afraid of
what, baby?” I held her tear-drenched face in my hands.
Her lips
quivered. “That I’ll hurt you.”
That wasn’t possible, I thought as I swept her
into my arms and carried her down the rain-soaked steps, my lips never leaving
hers.
***
I carried
her straight into my bathroom steam room. She was shivering wet. I set her down
and rapidly peeled off her drenched layers of clothing. I removed mine just as
fast. She let me wrap my arms around her naked body and hold her close to me as
a cloud of steam warmed us. Tears were still streaming down her beautiful face,
mingling with steamy mist. I sealed my mouth over hers and kissed her deeply
and passionately. With my lips still covering hers, I lifted her up off the
water-coated tiled floor.
“Wrap your
legs around me, baby,” I breathed into her ear.
She did as
I asked, twisting her long limbs around my waist like a pretzel. I carried her
to the edge of the steamy room and pressed her against the dripping wet back
wall, just high enough so that my cock could shoot easily into her glorious
pussy. Her arms wrapped around my shoulders.
“Baby, I’ve
missed you so much.” I studied her angelic face, made dreamy in the steamy
haze. My lips latched onto to hers and pressed into another deep, tongue-driven
kiss. Her velvety breasts skimmed my chest. I groaned as my girth grew between
my legs.
“Oh, Golden
Boy,” she rasped as my mouth released hers. “Make me come.”
