My Review

This was such a good positive book to read, clean and fun, but also has some adventure, or more like stepping out of your comfort zone.
The Trouble with Flying, by Rachel Morgan is about Sarah, she is leaving England after visiting her sister for three weeks, is going home to South Africa. She is hoping to sleep on the plane, not even in the mood to talk to anyone. Of course the cute guy in the next seat wont let that happen, he is afraid to fly. Aiden is going to visit family in South Africa, he is from England.
I really loved this story, first of all because it was just fun to read, and was well written and you can feel how the characters felt. Second, because everyone loves a good young love and third, well I have never read anything from an Author in South Africa, I have actually no idea what life is like there and found that part interesting. There are words, phrases and some of the ways they live that are different then mine in the USA, but not really different just interesting. The Author does explain at the end of the story the meaning of the words.

I gave this book a Five Star Rating 🙂

I loved that it is a clean book. Worth reading.

The best part of the new job is Liam, another employee at Rio Grande Elementary. The worst part of the new job is, well, teaching.

Praise for Newbie
Loved this story. I thought it was crisp and funny. Sophie has a great character arch as she goes from the Real Estate world to a classroom of 1st graders. Love Liam. He is a nice breath of fresh air. He and Sophie’s interactions kept me laughing and wanting more. I HIGHLY recommend this novel! ~ Author Sherry Gammon

In recent years I’ve become addicted to Sophie Kinsella’s books. This book reminded me of hers, only cleaner, which I appreciated! It was sweet and witty. Definitely had me laughing out loud. Loved the ending 🙂 ~Goodreads Review

I loved this book! I especially have a tender spot for books with children in them and this story about Sophie being “forced” to teach when the real estate market does so poorly captured my heart. The characters were warm and lovable, the story was fun and I enjoyed every minute of the book. ~Phyllis

I loved NEWBIE. Sophie’s inner thoughts are a delight. She just makes me smile. Her journey as a newbie teacher is real and touching. ~Donna Weaver

If it weren’t for her best friends, Zoey and Maya, Addy Hart would be a prudish, uptight Barbie doll. Thankfully, through love and persistence, they’ve helped introduce her to her wild side. Unfortunately, even her wild side doesn’t have the courage to go after the one thing she wants more than life itself.

Dr. Greyson McDaniel has resisted his lovely teaching assistant for three years, now. He has no intentions of endangering his job or her reputation. But as spring break approaches, he’s seized with a wicked impulse. He invites her to his mountain retreat for a week. Just one week of intense escape.

What they both discover after their affair is that a week isn’t nearly enough. But as much as they long to be together, there are obstacles in their way, and the ethics of student-teacher relationships are the least of their problems. When she realizes how deeply rooted Grey’s commitment issues are, Addy begins to despair of ever having a happy ending with him. But Addy’s love might be just what’s needed to free him of his past.

excerpt

She took in a breath and turned to him. “Will you continue to date your girlfriend after this week?”

He swallowed. There were nerves, but this was Addison. She was reasonable. Logical. “Probably,” he said.

She turned pale. “I see.”

“Do you think I shouldn’t?”

She was quiet for a long moment. “I think it’s important to me that you understand how I feel. That it hurts me to see you date other women.”

“Honey, I’m sorry. I don’t know what you want me to do. Remain celibate?” But suddenly he realized the insensitivity of his statement. Because wasn’t that what she’d done? “Is that why you’re still a virgin, Addison? You were waiting for me?”

She lowered her head, her silence his answer.

“I never asked that of you,” Grey said.

She let out a bitter laugh. “You didn’t?”

“No, Addison. I’d never—”

“Do you remember Joel Wilson?”

His ears got suddenly hot. “That ****** soccer player.”

“Precisely. That ******* soccer player.”

Grey felt a sudden and deep shame. This had been nearly two years ago. He’d forgotten. “What did you see in him?”

“Um, he’s hot. Really hot. Not the sharpest tool in the shed, but not an idiot. Did all those caveman gestures you seem to value so highly. Paid for my meals, held open doors, that sort of thing. Do you remember what you said to me in the cafeteria that day?”

He remembered.

“You said, ‘Not him, Addison. Anyone but him.’ It was the first time you’d called me by name. You didn’t mean it, either. You meant no one. Not him. Not anyone. Didn’t you?”

She was right. He’d been jealous. Angry. Hurt. And since then, he’d been living a very comfortable existence in which he could sleep with women he didn’t love while loving a woman he couldn’t sleep with.

FAITH6(1)Faith by Elizabeth Hayes

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer my life changed in an instant. My once clear path was now going 100 miles an hour into the pitch black unknown. I couldn’t stop nor change it. I was in the driver seat, yet I couldn’t steer back on course. My life was never going to be the same. I lost friends and refused to make new ones. I refused to let anyone in.

I lived an empty void of existence.

The day the doctor muttered the word remission my path changed yet again. I knew, however, at any moment it could change back. I needed to find myself and purpose in life.

One day it all changed. I found myself in a place most would look down on. A place where I wasn’t pitied or treated like a piece of glass. It’s was where I met him. Where I would find myself. This is my story and how I became Faith.

excerpt

“Good to see you too Melody” I smiled at her as I sat down on my chair and pulled my makeup and wig out of my bag. I went straight to work covering my face in a layer of makeup. Dark black eyeliner with smoky eyes, I added a bright red lipstick to my lips. I took a double take and made sure that I was unrecognizable. Convinced that I was, I went to work at securing my wig to my head. Making sure it wouldn’t move. By the time I was satisfied with my choice of long black hair, I made my way to the bathroom. I wasn’t shy about people seeing me naked. I just couldn’t bring anyone to see what I was hiding underneath my shirt.

I stepped into a stall and shut the door. Pulling my shirt over my head and removing my bra. I applied the pasties scars that had once been my nipples. The right one first and then the left. I glanced down checking to make sure they were even before stepping out of the stall. I glanced in the bathroom mirror and smiled. They were perfect.

I finished getting ready in the dressing room before heading out on the floor. I made my way to the bar to pay my house fee and sign in. The music was blaring as I made my way over to the DJ booth to give him my music. I took a few minutes to glance around the dark room and check out the guys. First shift girls were still working so I handed the DJ my music and made my way back to the bar. I took a seat next to Melody who was talking to Katy the bartender.

So you want to know a little about me and get a sense of who I am. Well the first thing I can say is that I absolutely hate talking about myself. So bare with me as I let you in on who I am.

My name is Elizabeth Hayes and I am from the Midwest. I have a few things I just happen to obsess over those include Hot pink and Zebra print, Unicorns, and cupcakes, and Books, I love to read and get lost in a book. I have thought about writing for a long time now and finally started to put words down. Ashlee and I are both new at this and our first book Finding Salvation is going to be thrown out there for you all to read. I must say I am having a hard time with this. I am the type of person that likes to know the outcome before I do anything. I want to know that this is going loved by most of you. The thing is I know that this book is going to be hopefully liked by some, hopefully loved by some, hated by some and just ok to some and I think I am finally ok with that. I am stepping out of my comfort zone. I hear that is a good thing. But with everything time will tell. So there you go! If you want to know more just ask.

Isn’t it always when you think your life is looking up, that you have to be batted back down? You finally think you’re climbing your way out of the hole, until someone steps on your hands.

I thought our relationship was evolving past benefits and into committed, until I realized that everything I knew about the man in my bed was a lie.

Call me a fool, but I help him anyway.

excerpt

“I hate you.
“I want to take tweezers and pull all of the hair from your balls.
“Don’t think I’m doing this for you, you lying bastard.
“A pox upon your taint, Finnigan Brennick!
“You are the biggest douche nugget I have ever met, and I’ve met a **** ton, asshole.”
I’m yelling my rage in the overlarge cab of the monster truck I’m driving when my phone rings. I answer, but don’t say anything.
“Sadie?” Speaking of assholes.
I sniff in disdain and say as neutrally as possible, “Finnigan.”
“So it’s going to be like that, huh? Okay, did you have any trouble with the car?” Batty asks. I think about the Mercedes that I left in the ditch by his driveway. Stick shifts are harder to drive than I ever thought possible.
“Nope,” I lie. He’s quiet, like he doesn’t believe me.
“Well, that’s good, then,” he says skeptically. He definitely doesn’t believe me.
“Your destination is on the right,” the GPS’s automated voice says loudly.
“Listen, babe, I’m—”
“I have to go,” I cut him off. I am in no mood to hear terms of endearment. I disconnect the call with one hand and turn the wheel with the other to enter the school. “****!” I yell as I hit the curb.

Book BlurbJeweled veil weighing heavily on her head, Zoe Martin waits for her sheikh husband-to-be. The shame of her adoptive family, orphan Zoe has endured six years of being kept as a slave—now she’s been sold into marriage…to a man known as The Beast!

Being discarded to the sheikh has one bonus—this could mean freedom! Zoe must play along with the three-day—and three-night—ceremony, but she isn’t expecting the blazing attraction from just one stolen glance at playboy sheikh Nadir.…

excerpt

“Come, Zoe.” One of her cousins unceremoniously pulled her from her chair and her female relatives surrounded her. “It’s time to prepare you for your wedding night.”

Her wedding night. Her stomach twisted sharply and she battled back nausea. Her aunts smiled and giggled as they swept her out of the courtyard and up to the honeymoon suite. She hunched her shoulders as corroding fear, thick and searing hot, bled through her body. It pooled under her skin, pressing harder and harder, threatening to burst through.

It suddenly sank into her. She belonged to the Sheikh. A man they called The Beast. She was married to him. Married.

Her married cousins were offering words of advice, telling her how to please her husband, but Zoe didn’t hear a word of it. There was a desperate energy among the women. Their laughter was a little shrill, their advice raw and uncoated.

Zoe didn’t resist as the women settled her in the center of the bed. She knelt on the mattress, her hands folded in front of her, her head bent down. She wanted to jump out of bed and run, but she knew these women would bring her back and guard the bedroom.

She closed her eyes and took a deep, jagged breath. She heard the women leaving the room, their laughter harsh as they tossed her more marital advice. She had always thought her wedding day would be different. In her daydreams it had been full of laughter and joy, not to mention love.

The reality was much bleaker. Zoe slowly opened her eyes. She was marrying because she was out of options and running out of luck. She was taking a leap of faith, believing she could use this marriage to her advantage. But she might have given up more than her freedom to a man who was a dangerous stranger.

What had she done?
