The Bachelor meets The Runaway Bride in this
addictive romance novel about a reality TV producer falling for her would-be
star: a Montana heartthrob who wants nothing to do with the show.
Jordan Carpenter thinks she’s finally found the
perfect candidate for Jilted, a new dating show about runaway
grooms: Luke Elliott, a playboy firefighter who’s left not one but three brides
at the altar. The only problem? Luke refuses to answer Jordan’s emails or
return her calls. Which is how she ends up on a flight to Montana to recruit
him in person. It’s not Manhattan but at least the locals in Lucky Hollow seem
friendly . . . except for Luke, who’s more intense—and way hotter—than the
slick womanizer Jordan expected.
Eager to put the past behind him, Luke has zero
intention of following this gorgeous, fast-talking city girl back to New York.
But before he can send her packing, Jordan’s everywhere: at his favorite bar,
the county fair, even his exes’ book club. Annoyingly, everyone in Lucky Hollow
seems to like her—and deep down, she’s starting to grow on him too. But the
more he fights her constant pestering, the more Luke finds himself wishing that
Jordan would kick off her high heels and make herself comfortable in his arms.

For one charming playboy, getting cast on a
Bachelor-esque reality TV show is the shock of a lifetime—until he finds love
where he least expects it. And now the chase is on!
Gage Barrett’s reputation as a ladies’ man has
been greatly exaggerated, but none of that matters after a drunken bet lands
him on Jilted, a reality TV show that matches runaway grooms with wannabe
brides. Now he’s stuck at a Hawaiian resort with nineteen women competing to
drag him back to the altar—and one contestant who’s even more miserable than he
is. Gage has no idea how feisty, independent Ellie Wright wound up in the cast,
but it’s obvious she hates his guts. And if there’s one thing Gage likes, it’s
a challenge. . . .
Ellie can’t believe she let her best friend talk
her into exchanging her dignity for a glorified bikini contest. Still, she
could use the exposure—her business is struggling—and she’ll probably be one of
the first to get eliminated anyway. But Gage isn’t the shallow jerk Ellie
anticipated—and he’s in no rush to send her home. As stolen kisses turn into
secret trysts, she finds herself losing track of what’s real and what’s for the
camera. With the wedding finale looming, this runaway groom is tempting Ellie
to start believing in storybook endings.

LOVE STORY
a Love Unexpectedly novel
Lauren Layne
Releasing February 14th, 2017

Over the course of one wild road trip, feuding childhood sweethearts get a second chance at love in this charming rom-com—a standalone novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Blurred Lines and Good Girl.

When Lucy Hawkins receives a job offer in San Francisco, she can’t wait to spread her wings and leave her small Virginia hometown behind. Her close-knit family supports her as best they can, by handing over the keys to a station wagon that’s seen better days. The catch? The cross-country trip comes with a traveling companion: her older brother’s best friend, aka the guy who took Lucy’s virginity hours before breaking her heart.

After spending the past four years and every last dime caring for his sick father, Reece Sullivan will do just about anything to break free of the painful memories—even if it means a two-week road trip with the one girl who’s ever made it past his carefully guarded exterior. But after long days of bickering in the car turn into steamy nights in secluded motel rooms, Reece learns that, when it comes to Lucy, their story is far from over. And this time, they just might have a shot at a happy ending.

Although listed as a title in the Love Unexpectedly Series, all books in the series stand alone.

“Spock, we’re giving you Horny!” my mom blurts out, apparently fed up with my denseness.

Her utterance is too much for my siblings to handle and they both burst out laughing, retreating into the kitchen to rejoin the party where there’s wine.

Oh what I wouldn’t give for wine right now.

“I, um . . . you’re giving me the car?” I ask.

“Because yours broke down,” my dad explains, walking forward to thump Horny’s dented hood.

“And this one’s . . . not broken down?” I ask skeptically.

Look, it’s not that I’m not grateful. My parents are trying to give me a car, I appreciate the sweetness of the gesture, it’s just . . .

Here’s the thing about Horny: he barely got us three kids through high school. I mean, Horny is the car that sputtered and shook making it the 3.2 miles to Jefferson High, no matter who was behind the wheel.

I’m even going to come all the way clean here and say that early on in my freshmen year, I was embarrassed showing up in Horny. Then I realized I was lucky to have a car at all, and well . . . I dunno, I guess Horny became a part of us Hawkins kids’ charm, because the station wagon was practically an institution from Craig’s high school reign all the way through Brandi’s.

But poor Horny quit working years ago. Much to Brandi’s chagrin, he gave up the ghost a mere two months before her high school graduation, and I spent the last bit of her senior year being picked up by my parents.

“He’s going to take you to California,” Dad says, giving the car another thump.

“Really?” I step forward and run a tentative finger along the familiar panel. He’s had a bath, so at least that’s something. “Because last I knew, he wouldn’t even make it out of the garage.”

“Yeah, well, we neglected him for a while, but he’s right as rain now,” Dad says, puffing out his chest as though Horny’s a fourth child.

“Like, as in he actually starts?”

“Purrs like a kitten,” my mom says with an emphatic nod, even though I know she doesn’t even like cats. “We didn’t believe it, but we took him to church on Sunday and there were no issues.”

I literally bite my tongue to keep from pointing out that this is hardly a feat. Sacred Presbyterian is 0.8 miles away from the house.

“You took Horny into a shop?” I ask, starting to warm to the idea of having a car again. I’m a little touched, actually. Money is tight for my parents. Dad’s a PE teacher, and Mom gives a mean winery tour, but the gig’s never paid much.

“Not exactly, it was more of a bartering situation,” Mom says.

“Yeah?” I say, going around to the driver’s seat, already giddy with the prospect of telling Oscar I’ll be able to come see him in Miami after all, even if I won’t exactly be riding in style.

“Reece agreed to fix him up.”

I’m lowering myself into the car as my dad says this, but I reverse so quickly I hit my head. My skull doesn’t even register the pain, because I’m too busy registering the hurt in my heart at the familiar name. “I’m sorry, what?”

“Reece,” my mom says, giving me a bemused look. “He’s always been handy with cars.”

“He fixed up the car in exchange for what?”

And then I feel—I actually feel—the air change around me as the side door to the garage opens, and a new presence sucks all the air out of the space.

I don’t turn around. I don’t move. But I feel his eyes on me. Over me.

“Reece is headed out to California too,” my oblivious mother chatters on. “It worked out perfectly actually. Now you two can ride together, and your dad and I don’t have to worry about you alone in the middle of nowhere with a twenty-something-year-old car.

They think the car is going to be the problem here? It’s not the car that’s toxic to me. It’s him.

Reece Sullivan. My brother’s best friend. My parents’ “other son.”

Slowly I force myself to turn, and even though I’m prepped, the force of that ice-blue gaze still does something dangerous to me.

He winks, quick and cocky, and I suck in a breath, and I have to wonder . . .

I wonder if my parents would feel differently about their little plan if they knew that their makeshift mechanic is the same guy that popped my cherry six years earlier under their very roof.

And then broke my heart twenty-four hours later.

The Fallen by Susan Child

Lisa’s scooter breaks down, can she handle Connor’s Harley?

About Susan Child
When Susan was in high school, she never really liked to read,
but when she was a child she did. Go figure. It wasn’t until after she
graduated that she caught the reading bug. Susan had to go to a book store to
sell off her text books and a particular book caught her eye. This book stood
out from the other second-hand books because it had a pink cover. It was only a
couple of dollars, so she thought, “Why not?” But she couldn’t quite bring
herself to read her bargain book. It had a pink cover!
Then, after it tormented her for three weeks, she finally
picked it up and… could not put it down. Susan finished it in two days! After
Google-ing the author, she found that she’d written a heap of books for
Harlequin Mills & Boon as well as Single Titles.
So of course Susan had to buy all her other books! And when
she realised that there were other Mills & Boon authors out there, she just
had to search out their books, too. And she loved them!
Susan got a ton of inspiration from those books. But the most
important thing she realized was that she wanted to write those books, too. She
wanted to be a Paranormal author! Because let’s face it, who doesn’t like
things that go bump in the night?

Never Settle by MariaLisa deMora

Fran wanted a love like her grandparents, she didn’t find it
with Pete, has she found it with Kris?

About MariaLisa DeMora
Raised in the south, MariaLisa learned about the magic of
books at an early age. Every summer, with the help of a gracious librarian who
did not believe in age-restricted stacks, she would spend hours in the local
library, devouring books of every genre. Self-described as a book-a-holic, she
says “I always loved to read, then I discovered writing, and I adored that,
too. For reading … if nothing else is available, I’ve been known to read the
back of the cereal box.”
She still reads voraciously, and always has a few books going
in paperback, hardback, or on devices.

BloggerGirl front under 2mb“Sassy, sexy, endlessly entertaining, and full of laughs (as well as some heart-wrenching moments), Blogger Girl is one of those books that keeps you up at night because you can’t wait to see what happens next.” – Tracie Banister, Author of Mixing It Up

What happens when your high school nemesis becomes the shining star in a universe you pretty much saved? Book blogger Kimberly Long is about to ?nd out.

A chick lit enthusiast since the first time she read Bridget Jones’s Diary, Kim, with her blog, Pastel is the New Black, has worked tirelessly by night to keep the genre alive, and help squash the claim that “chick lit is dead” once and for all. Not bad for a woman who by day ekes out a meager living as a pretty, and pretty-much-nameless, legal secretary in a Manhattan law ?rm. While Kim’s day job holds no passion for her, the handsome (and shaving challenged) associate down the hall is another story. Yet another story is that Hannah Marshak, one of her most hated high school classmates, has now popped onto the chick lit scene with a hot new book that’s turning heads–and pages–across the land. It’s also popped into Kim’s inbox–for review.

With their ten-year reunion drawing near, Kim’s coming close to combustion over the hype about Hannah’s book. And as everyone around her seems to be moving on and up, she begins to question whether being a “blogger girl” makes the grade in her offline life.

Novelista Girl front under 2mb
“A great chick lit book: a strong and confident heroine, a sexy boyfriend you can crush on, supportive friends, and plenty of conflict leading to comical results, culminating in a very satisfying ending.” – Erin Brady, Bestselling Author of The Shopping Swap

Feisty New Yorker Kimberly Long runs the most popular chick lit book blog on the web, loves playing house with her sexy lawyer boyfriend, Nicholas, and is finally pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a published author. At first glance, her life is worthy of five pink champagne flutes. But is there more to the story than meets the eye? After hearing the phrase “chick lit is dead” more times than she’s read The Devil Wears Prada, Kim is driven to desperate measures, seeking advice from up-and-coming chick lit author, Hannah Marshak, her high school nemesis and resident “mean girl.”

As if Kim doesn’t have enough on her plate balancing her secretarial duties with her blog, Pastel is the New Black, shrugging off the growing pile of agent rejections, and keeping her best friend from turning green over Kim’s budding friendship with Hannah, Nicholas is so blinded by his career ambitions, he doesn’t see that their home sweet home could use more than a dash of sugar.

This is the year when all of Kim’s dreams—professional and romantic—are supposed to come true, but will her story have a happily ever after or will Kim end up unpublished and all alone?

Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology by Leah Remini #BookReview @LeahRemini #LeahRemini

Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology

Blurb

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The outspoken actress, talk show host, and reality television star offers up a no-holds-barred memoir, including an eye-opening insider account of her tumultuous and heart-wrenching thirty-year-plus association with the Church of Scientology.

Leah Remini has never been the type to hold her tongue. That willingness to speak her mind, stand her ground, and rattle the occasional cage has enabled this tough-talking girl from Brooklyn to forge an enduring and successful career in Hollywood. But being a troublemaker has come at a cost.

That was never more evident than in 2013, when Remini loudly and publicly broke with the Church of Scientology. Now, in this frank, funny, poignant memoir, the former King of Queens star opens up about that experience for the first time, revealing the in-depth details of her painful split with the church and its controversial practices.

Indoctrinated into the church as a child while living with her mother and sister in New York, Remini eventually moved to Los Angeles, where her dreams of becoming an actress and advancing Scientology’s causes grew increasingly intertwined. As an adult, she found the success she’d worked so hard for, and with it a prominent place in the hierarchy of celebrity Scientologists alongside people such as Tom Cruise, Scientology’s most high-profile adherent. Remini spent time directly with Cruise and was included among the guests at his 2006 wedding to Katie Holmes.

But when she began to raise questions about some of the church’s actions, she found herself a target. In the end, she was declared by the church to be a threat to their organization and therefore a “Suppressive Person,” and as a result, all of her fellow parishioners—including members of her own family—were told to disconnect from her. Forever.

Bold, brash, and bravely confessional, Troublemaker chronicles Leah Remini’s remarkable journey toward emotional and spiritual freedom, both for herself and for her family. This is a memoir designed to reveal the hard-won truths of a life lived honestly—from an author unafraid of the consequences.

Praise for Troublemaker

My Review

Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and ScientologyTroublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology by Leah Remini
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology by Leah Remini is an intriguing story of her life. I have been a fan of Leah since King Of Queen, she is an fantastic actress. I have always been intrigued about her lifestyle and how she became a member of Scientology and of course what is Scientology.
I have watch her recent show about Scientology and that show did answer some of my questions, but not enough about how Leah got involved in this Cult.

When I saw that Leah Remini was also the narrator of this book on Audible I knew I had to listen to this book. I was right listening to her read her story made this book so worth listen to it. It took me a little over 7 hours and I listened to it in one day. She has a very good voice to listen to. She is a great story teller. Yes, it is that good.

This story starts with Leah telling about her childhood and that to me makes it seem more real. I am very happy that she told the story from the start. This book gave a lot of information about her life, how she survived and where she is now.

Leah is very blunt about everything she says and tells it like it is through her eyes. She does bring up Tom Cruise and I personally have not been a fan of his for a long time. She answered some questions about him.

She brings up a lot of interesting points about Scientology and I wonder how it can even be a church? Seems like a scam to me and I am glad she was able to open her eyes and leave the cult. Even though she is successful in her acting career and worked very hard for it. She also had commitment with the “church” she spent a lot of hours giving to her “church”.

I am glad I read (listened) this book, I wonder if she would have joined as an adult? She was introduced to the “church” by her mom when she was a teenager.
Another question I have does Scientology actually help people? Or they just what the money.
I highly recommend reading this book, and better yet listen to it by audio, really worth it.

Rosalia

“Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned,” I confess in the small booth and shut my eyes, causing two tears to roll down my cheeks in regret.

Sometimes we take risks and they don’t play out as we expected, but it’s better to regret something you did do than to regret something you didn’t do. Living with what could’ve been is far worse.

“You haven’t sinned,” a familiar, deep voice comments.

My gaze shoots up to the lattice screen in time to see Logan exiting the compartment. He yanks open my door, and I’m met with stormy, sapphire eyes – the color of a cloudless sky – that have haunted my dreams for many nights as he steps forward, but I push him out of the confessional with both of my palms on his hard chest.

“Where have you been?” I demand, wiping my tears away angrily.

As my vision clears, I’m astounded by how much he reminds me of the man I fell in love with. His navy dress shirt is tucked into his slacks, showing off his toned torso. Nonetheless, this is the man who is my Heaven and my Hell. My current Hell; but the time we lived in Heaven together isn’t easily forgotten.

He studies me for a long moment, as if I’m a figment of his imagination. Then he runs his fingers through his dirty blond hair and messes up the strands, making him much too appealing in his anguish.

“Rosa,” he says in a tormented tone. Reaching for me, he cups the back of my head and threads his fingers through my long black hair.

His sandalwood cologne invades my nostrils and brings back memories that are best left in some dusty corner of my mind. He lowers his forehead to mine, and I clutch his shirt as the passion he incites in me still pumps furiously through my veins. While we stare at each other, his thumb strokes the dimple on my cheek.

“I should hate you,” I mumble, confused.

“No. I’ve come to explain.”

“Explain what? You broke my heart and left. Everything’s ruined!”

“I had to leave to set things straight and make sure I didn’t get killed in the process, Rosa,” he snarls. Yet, in a softer tone, he adds, “But I had to see if you’re okay.”

We’re standing face-to-face, and as he tilts my head up, I recognize the flame of love in his dark irises. As usual, we lose control the second his mouth slants over mine. Logan’s lips urge mine apart, guiding me hungrily into his masterful kiss. He commands my emotions with the heat of his touch. One large hand covers my ass while he palms my head, and on their own accord, my arms wind around his neck. Our teeth clash and our tongues dance in a teasing foray – desperately recapturing a love that others tried to extinguish.

Growling, he lifts me up into his arms effortlessly. My jade knee-length dress rides up my hips when I hook my legs around him before he carries me to the church’s elevated altar, surrounded by devotional statues and lit candles. I’m shoved onto the two-step carpeted stairs in front of the altar while we grind into each other.

Logan nips a path up my throat as I gaze up at the painted angels on the dome ceiling, and he pulls my lips between his teeth, biting the corner of my mouth.

“I need to fuck you,” he groans huskily, pressing his rock-hard erection against me.

We’re both breathing heavily, forgetting where we are – in the Parish of the Blessed, in the middle of the day, with people inside the sacristy.

This is what he’s done to me. Even after everything, I’m unable to deny him. I’ve chosen to plummet into a world of sensual awakening with him once before, and I’m choosing it again.

We’ve always been reckless. We’ve broken a family apart. And now, we’re tempted to fuck in the church where the wedding will take place in less than twenty-four hours.

I read many genres but favor intense, seductive, and provocative novels where the male character loves fiercely, without remorse or boundaries. I also adore forbidden love tales and have an odd fascination with kidnapping romances. No, I don’t secretly want to be kidnapped, though!

I have a passionate obsession with the written word and indulge in chocolate pastries much too often.

My debut novel For Fallon (Chicago Syndicate, #1) was released on July 26, 2014. I’m honored that For Fallon won “Best Breakout Novel 2014” in the Novel Grounds Semi Annual Literary Awards.
