Synopsis: Elusive charmer Cash Walker is a tough-as-nails cowboy, except when it comes to the shy woman who shows up with a pretty smile, a wounded spirit, and a goat riding shotgun in her passenger seat.Recently divorced from an abusive husband, Emma Frank has come home to Broken Falls, Montana. Lost, alone, and unable to escape the bullying tactics of her ex-brothers-in-law, she finds solace and friendship at the Tucked Away farm and with the handsome cowboy who believes in her and who helps her find her own courage.

There’s a darkness in Cash’s past that’s kept him from ever letting anyone get too close, but he can’t seem to stay away from Emma, who seems to be the one to finally break through his tough exterior and steal this cowboy’s heart.

EXCERPT

Screw all that business of not getting involved with her.

He wanted her. Wanted to kiss her so badly he could taste it. Wanted to kiss her beyond all reason, beyond good sense.

Closer.

His head screaming at him to stop, but his heart and his body ignoring it, crying out with their own desires of want and need. He’d been thinking about her and now here she was—warm and in the flesh and so close to being in his arms.

His hands itched to slide up her arms, to caress her skin, to plunge into her hair. He ached to pull her to him, to slide her body under his, to touch and explore.

Closer still. So slow. So sweet. His lips barely brushing hers in the faintest of whispers. Her breath sucking in at the barest degree of touch. Her lips trembling.

Be brave, Emma. I won’t hurt you.

He froze. His lips scarcely touching hers. Because he would. He would hurt her. Eventually. He always did.

The darkness inside of him always won out, and he eventually ended up hurting them all. Not physically, but by his stubborn refusal to commit to a relationship, to not settle down with or give anyone a chance to really be with him. He hurt them by walking away, not giving anything of himself—anything real.

But he didn’t want to hurt her. Couldn’t bear to think of causing her any more pain. She’d had enough. Been through enough.

The last thing she needed was him.

Steve Johnson is living his life’s passion watching over the Colorado Mountains as a ranger and wildlife consultant. But his peaceful life is upended when overzealous and insanely beautiful Shannon Braden flits back into his life after returning from a brief trip home to Maryland. He thought his attraction to her was under control—after all, she’s only in Colorado temporarily, and he doesn’t do casual affairs.

Shannon’s return to Colorado has as much to do with the game of cat and mouse she and Steve have been playing as it does the data she’s been hired to collect. But despite her efforts to explore the undeniable heat simmering between them, Steve’s intent on keeping his distance.

When a ranch abutting the national park goes up for sale, Steve will do whatever it takes to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. And when all his attempts fail, he’s left with no alternative but to follow Shannon’s guidance into the online world he abhors in order to raise the funds. The more time they spend together, the deeper their attraction becomes, and a game of cat and mouse turns into an unstoppable connection. But when Shannon’s assignment comes to an end, will it mean an end to them, too?

Review-Banner

I love reading series of books. I love getting to know the characters in a story. This one about Shannon and Steve was fun to read.  I really loved the plot, the story of Shannon and Steve. Shannon was in Colorado doing some field research. Shannon had met Steve at her cousin’s wedding and decided to go back and see if there were any sparks. I thought the story started kind of slow. Even though this is part of a series and can be read alone I had a little trouble remembering how all the people fit in. That isn’t really important though. I think it is just me. I thought Shannon was sweet happy go lucky type of gal. Steve who works as a ranger and loves his solitude in the mountains wasn’t too excited to see her come back to his mountain to work.  Then again he was very happy to see her. As I kept reading the story, I loved how the story went. I loved the detail of the story. The characters Shannon and Steve worked well. I also thought how they came together to work on a project that was so important to Steve and he was amazed at how good Shannon did to organize the event and make something happen that Steve never thought could. I don’t like to give away the plot. For me this was a good happy book. A Sweet romance, with lots of steamy romance.  I also want to mention I love the nicknames. So perfect!!

The author Melissa Foster does well with writing this series and leaves me wanting to read more. I have read a few others and I do love the character’s.

I want to thank Tasty Book Tours and Melissa Foster for the ARC.

Excerpt-Banner

“You drive me crazy.”

She didn’t even hide her smile. “Why?”

“Because all I want to do is kiss you.”

“More things we agree on.” She placed her hand on the back of his neck, went up on tiptoe, and brushed her lips over his. Like a match swiped across the rough edge of the box, a fire lit inside of them. Colt’s arms banded around her. One big hand held her lower back. He planted the other right on her ass, his long fingers lay over the curve, inches from the tingling heat building between her legs. He pulled her closer and took the kiss deeper. His tongue glided along hers. She moaned. He growled, titled his head for a better angle, and kissed her socks off.

Luna lost herself in Colt’s arms. The first kiss they shared rocked her world off center and left her wondering if what she felt that night in the parking lot was real or just her imagination. Not only was the passion and need real, something opened inside her and everything within her settled.

God, the man could kiss.

book blurb

The biggest risks yield the greatest gains—especially in the game of love.

Emily Wolfe, real estate agent to the elite, is tired of being alone. So when she gets a chance to compete on a reality dating show she decides to risk it all for love in the biggest game of her life.

The city girl is surprised how much she enjoys switching her high heels for cowboy boots and pedicures for mud treatments—and not the kind you find at a day spa. And she’s falling hard for Wil Parker, the sexy, rugged farmer at the centre of the show.

Amidst the chaos, tantrums and editing tape, the heat and passion between Emily and Wil reaches boiling point. But can they survive the imminent explosion, let alone the fallout?

excerpt

Emily lined up in a long row on the grass, alongside the other contestants. They were styled and primped, hair, make-up, and nails done professionally. Glancing sidelong at the nineteen gorgeous women standing either side of her, she could attest that Cowboy was in for a treat. She had never seen so many delicious pouts, plump breasts and sculptured bodies in the one place.

Lined up, dressed in designer jeans, a white blouse tied at the belly and stilettos that kept sinking into the damp grass, Emily felt like a prized cow awaiting the discerning glare of the cowboy to determine if she lived to see another day or was sent to the slaughterhouse. Her stomach churned at the blatant objectification all around her. She wanted to roll her eyes, but the cameras were focusing on them.

What had she been thinking of by coming here? She was a successful woman and out-earned many of her contemporaries. She was independent and confident. Emily did not need to be wondering if some bloke she didn’t even know was going to approve of her. A man she already disliked because anyone who would sign up to make women feel like a choice cut of meat wasn’t worth much.

This was a really bad idea. Her head grew light and her breathing laboured. She could not be having a panic attack. Not now of all moments when there were cameras capturing her every twitch. She thought back to the notes the doctor had given her on the way out of the hospital and tried to recall one of the methods of coping. Slow breaths. She took a long, steady breath, in and out. Count backwards from ten as you breathe. Ten, nine …

This was ridiculous. Emily glanced at the other girls, making sure they weren’t noticing her internal breakdown. She’d bet the directors hadn’t contemplated one of the cattle contracting mad cow disease. Eight, seven, six, five … What would they do if she suddenly fainted over here? All when she was supposed to be fierce competition, not … not … this.

Four, three, two … Her dizziness was slowly subsiding and the realisation that this calming tool may actually be working further eased her state of mind. You have everything under control. You have made the right decision.

A loud whooping sound beat down from the sky. Distant moans from cows and goats could be heard. Emily, along with all the girls and camera lenses, looked up to see what it was.

A black chopper was winding its way towards them. She forgot about her breathing and her anxiety and watched with a gaping mouth as the helicopter rocketed across the sky. It was like something out of a James Bond movie, not a reality dating show.

Was Cowboy flying that thing? Perhaps her suppositions about farming and country living needed a modern readjustment. The chopper circled above then landed a hundred metres from where they were all standing. The slashing blades slowed and stopped altogether. Emily held her breath as the side door opened and a figure clad in jeans, a long-sleeved checked shirt, cowboy hat and boots, climbed out and jumped onto the grass.

With a relaxed, casual gait, he walked towards them, the cameras following his every move. Emily couldn’t turn her gaze from him. He was tall, with broad shoulders and when he looked at the girls as he passed, nodding and tipping his hat, she saw that his eyes were a brilliant blue. A healthy spattering of whiskers covered his chin and upper lip.

Oh yes, this got incredibly real, because Cowboy was abso-freakin’-lutely smoking hot.

“The bottom line – and once again, no pun intended – is I think you might have overstayed your welcome in my home, Ezekiel.  Much like the smell of fish, unwanted guests begin to stink after the third day and you’ve been smelling something fierce for a while now,” she informed him primly, clasping her hands in front of her waist as she stared innocently at him.
“Now, Honor,” Zeke chided, amused.  “What would your mother say right now about that most unwelcoming attitude you have?”
“Holy crap.  He brought Momma into it,” Faith whispered violently to Harmony.
“The fool’s clearly lost his mind,” Harmony returned uneasily.
“Moron,” Aunt Orla cackled.  “Harriet, God rest her soul, woulda cut your ding-a-ling off at the root for streakin’ in her kitchen.”
“True though that may be, Auntie, I think my mother would be impressed that I’ve managed to maintain my sanity for this long.  She raised me to be a good hostess, and heaven knows, I’ve tried.  But you, Ezekiel, could make a preacher cuss on Sunday.  You’ve been nothing but a demanding, domineering pain in my derriere since you took my house hostage.  I swear, you shadow me when I so much as wander toward the bathroom.  And when it’s not you, it’s one of your trained monkeys watching me like some kind of science experiment.  I’ve had enough!  I told you last night that I intended to come back to work and find some kind of normalcy again.  You chose to believe I’d cede to your will.  Your error in judgment doesn’t translate into being either my fault or my problem.”
“No, but willfully draining the air from my tires most certainly is,” Zeke roared.  “What if I’d gotten a call out?”
“The SUV Abel loaned me – but you STILL won’t allow me to drive – is parked in the garage.”  Seeing the look of shock on his face, Honor smiled.  “Forgot about that, didn’t you?”
“Don’t get cocky, Kitten.   I’m in no mood.  You know what this argument is really over just like I do.  You shouldn’t BE here!”
“This is EXACTLY where I need to be,” she growled back, matching his tone as the two combatants faced each other.  “It’s MY business, Zeke.  That back there,” she continued, waving a hand toward the back of the restaurant, “is MY kitchen where I do MY work.  Seriously, if somebody said, ‘Don’t go be a Sheriff today, it’s too dangerous,’ you’d tell them that it’s your job and to check themselves into the nearest mental hospital.  Why do you think I’d feel any less dedicated to my work?”
“At the moment, nobody is gunnin’ for me,” Zeke snapped, rapidly losing his patience with the infuriating woman standing across from him.
“I wouldn’t bet on THAT,” Honor returned purposefully, looking the lawman up and down.
“Is that a threat you’re making to a sworn officer of the law, Miss McKinnon?  Because it sure sounded like one.”
Smiling that gentle sweet smile of hers that never failed to simultaneously melt his heart and harden his dick, Honor shook her head.  “Of course not, Sheriff.  Don’t be silly.  A threat implies that I might not follow through on things.  This is a promise from me to you, Zeke.  So, listen up,” she announced, going from the sugar-wouldn’t-melt-in-her-mouth tone he adored to the I-will-rip-off-your-dick-and-shove-it-where-the-sun-don’t-shine voice that never failed to get his blood pumping.
“I’m all ears, darlin’,” he replied easily, propping one hand against the counter as he leaned over it toward her.  “I do love it when you make me promises.” Honor made a noise of disgust as she shot him a look that should have frozen his blood to ice, but somehow just managed to make him hotter for her.
“Get out of my café, Sheriff, and take your Redneck Gestapo with you!  And don’t forget Deputy Hightower who’s skulking back there in the corner tryin’ his best to be invisible,” she ordered, pointing at where his uncomfortable subordinate was trying to slump in a back booth.  It was kinda hard to do when a guy was over six feet tall.
“Or what?” Zeke dared her with an insolent grin.
“Otherwise, I’m gonna be forced to bring out the pressure washer and start hosing down all the unwanted pests around this place, and I promise I’ll start with you, Sheriff Monroe.”
He could tell by the set of her jaw that she was serious.  His little Kitten had become a Tigress at some point this morning.  And damn, if that didn’t turn him on, too.

Ryan’s Love by CA Harms #BookReview @EJBookPromos @Charms0814

Title: Ryan’s Love
Series: Sawyer Brothers #1
Author: C.A. Harms
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: August 11, 2015
Publisher: Limitless Publishing
One of the hardest things I have ever had to do was bury my wife.
The second hardest thing would be watching my 12 year old daughter fall to her knees as they lowered her mother into the ground to rest.
A heart wrenching vision that will forever be etched in my mind.
Claire was my best friend, she had been since we were barely old enough to talk. I always knew, one day, I would marry her. I think I may have even told her that a few times while we were growing up.
Never did I think I would lose her so suddenly.
I knew at that moment…

Our life would never be the same again…
“Climb up,” I said from behind her as she stood staring up at the horse only a few feet from her with a look of panic on her face. I was more than positive this was the closest this city girl had ever been to one.
She peered back over her shoulder, and I almost laughed at how overwhelmed she looked.
“I’m from the city,” she said with wide eyes, emphasizing her loss at what to do. “Ryan, you do understand that we have subways and taxis, right? We do not have horses that are the size of SUVs. I’m going to need a little help if you expect me—” She pointed toward her chest, then spun around to point at the horse. “—to get up on that thing.”
Now I did chuckle. It was impossible not to. She was damn near panicking at the thought of how she would mount and then ride the horse.
I stepped up behind her, my chest fitting flush against her back. Gripping her hips, I leaned my head closer and grazed my lips over her ear. Her body relaxed against mine, and she tilted her head to the side, opening up her neck to me.
As I placed a kiss at the base of her neck, she shuddered in my arms. “You have to put your foot in the stirrups,” I whispered before kissing just below her ear. “I’ll lift as you pull yourself up.”
She nodded with her eyes closed as her chest moved up and down in small pants.
“Go on,” I urged.
I lifted her as she gripped the saddle, and she yelped when I firmly placed her atop Storm, my father’s Oldenburg stallion. Jackson held him steady as I pulled myself up and took my spot behind Amber. Our bodies were so close together I could feel her ragged breaths as she shifted against me with each one.

review enticing
The very beginning is so sad, and I hate that I can totally relate on some levels, losing someone you love is so hard and moving on is so hard. The author did a great job of bring the emotions out of me and I could really feel how they felt. Even though I didn’t like how it started it did need to start that way so we can feel how Ryan feels, and how hard it is to go on and raise their Daughter when his wife dies. Great job to the author.
After three years Ryan knows he needs to move on with his life, he has a great daughter that reminds him every day of his deceased wife, she is just like her mom.
Amber kind of inherited her grandmother’s bakery, she needed a new fresh start in another town, tired of the city life, her and her BFF moved to Montana to open the bakery. Amber has gone to culinary school and she will be able to use her skills in the bakery.
I also loved how she introduced each character how they each talked about what was going on, the story, their feelings. I feel in love with this family and can’t wait to read the next book in the series. This is going to be an awesome series. I think the Sawyer Family sounds awesome.
C.A. Harms is like any other addicted reader. She enjoys happy endings and HEA love stories. She hasn’t always been a lover of Romance and had once been addicted to a good Mystery. Just recently she has taken on a new liking and now is a full blown Romance novel addict.

She lives in Illinois and enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. You will always find her with her kindle or paperback in hand as it is her favorite pass time.
