Book Blurb

Samantha Sharp always knew her direction in life. Do well in school, attend a top university, graduate with honors. Having secured a plum gallery job right after graduation, she was well on her way to accomplishing her goals. That is, until a chance meeting with a handsome stranger made her question her life’s entire course.

Billionaire David Keith was sexy, successful, and on the wish list of every woman in San Francisco. Sam knew it was dangerous to hope she was different than all the women David normally dated, but for the first time, success wasn’t the only thing on Samantha’s mind. Would this distraction be her undoing?

excerpt

When I returned to the bedroom, David was upright in bed, dressed in his own matching white terry cloth robe, checking his phone. He put the phone on the nightstand and turned toward me.

“Is one of your companies in the robe business?” I joked, climbing into the huge bed.

“My companies? You’ve been doing your homework, Ms. Sharp.”

“Just a little internet research”

“I see.” Was he egging me on?

“I wanted to make sure you weren’t a psychopath,” I explained, sweetly.

“And what else did you find out, Ms. Sharp?” he looked at me with lightness in his eyes. I think he was amused.

“Just that you run a very successful venture capital company, and that you have a reputation as quite the ladies’ man …” I trailed off, indicating that perhaps he could address the rumors. He looked at me hard, flirting with his eyes.

“Well, I do in fact own a very successful venture capital company. And as far as the women, I enjoy them, present company especially.”

“Hmmmmm,” I replied slowly, furrowing my brow. I gave him a confident stare. “Are you always this slick?”

“Slick?”

He looked hurt. Or, wait, was he mocking me? I couldn’t tell. Did I offend him? I decided to clarify.

“I mean, you know, with all the ladies you bring back here. You somehow knew that my dress was going to end up on the floor of your bedroom tonight, and look,” I gestured to the pool of sequins, “there it is. You clearly have your routine down, not that I’m complaining …” I trailed off.

His eyes darkened, and his smile faded into a thin line. I stiffened. Crap, was that too far? I didn’t mean to insult him.

He looked away and took a deep breath.

Shit, he is mad. I fucked this up. Way to go, Sharp. You just had the best fucking sex of your life with a hot man-god, and now you’ve blown it. A pit opened in my stomach. I took a deep breath and braced myself.

He turned back to me.

“You seem to have me all figured out, don’t you Ms. Sharp?” His tone was cool and neutral. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking.

“Don’t I?” I tried to project confidence, but I was trembling inside. I wasn’t sure I wanted to hear what was next, but I knew I needed to know. Even if it confirmed what I’d been trying to ignore. If I was going out, at least I was going out guns blazing.

“Well, no, Ms. Sharp.” He stood up and slipped on his boxers before he continued. “Do I go on dates with a lot of women? Yes. In my line of work, I have a variety of social engagements that I must attend as part of my job, and a date is often foisted upon me. Being single and straight in this city also means I am often at the receiving end of every mother and grandmother with a single daughter. Samantha, I am a polite man, and unattached, so I have very few good reasons to refuse a date. So, yes, I do go on a lot of dates. But those dates are different than what is going on here. This,” he gestured to the space between us, “in case you haven’t noticed, Samantha, is electric.”

My heart flew, and I tried desperately to keep a grin from taking over my whole face. He continued.

“Just so we are clear, I do also have sex with some of my dates, kill me, I’m a man. I have needs.” He shrugged his shoulders and sat back on the bed. “But I never bring them here.”

Book Blurb

In an instant, Cassie must put aside all her day-to-day worries: her looks, a job she likes (well deals with), what to wear. At twenty-nine, she receives sudden, life-changing news. She realizes that her everyday life with her fiancé, Jake, was pretty amazing. Who cares about a sarcastic boss or a promotion when losing everything has become a terrifying reality?

Cassie’s shocking news infiltrates the lives of everyone she loves, particularly Jake and her estranged sister, Sandy. Jake wants to be strong for Cassie, but this unexpected turn brings back painful memories—and a terrible secret he’s shared with no one. Sandy, who ran away to pursue stardom, is called home to face those she left behind. The golden child of the family, Sandy fell from her pedestal long ago. Will she be able to face her own failures?

As Cassie struggles against an uncertain future, Jake and Sandy battle with the demons of the past. All three will learn valuable lessons about love, forgiveness and appreciating the days we’re given.

excerpt

“Mrs. Cassie Morrow,” I said with a flourish, excited at my new title-to-be. “That has a nice ring to it.”

“That’s why I asked you to marry me, you know, just because Cassie Morrow sounded so nice. Think of where we’d be if your name was Kim or Monique…or Morticia.”

“I think we’d have a lot more problems if my name was Morticia.”

“Or if your name was To,” he continued. “What in the world would we do if your name was To?” he said playfully.

“To Morrow. Tomorrow. Very funny,” I said, laughing. “I don’t know if I like where this conversation is going. It started out nice, but somehow I think the sentiment is diminishing.”

“Diminishing? Never. Would you care to join me on the couch?” He extended his hand and bent down on one knee.

“I would love to.”

We curled together on our oversized tan sofa. Our bodies fit like matching jigsaw puzzle pieces, the most natural connection. The gentle rise and fall of his breathing and the beating of his heart lulled me into contentment. He wrapped his strong arms around me and pulled me closer…

“I love you, Jake. I love you forever.”

He bent down and kissed my lips. “I love you, too, Cassie. I love you, too.”

That is how I think of Jake. I think of him as my perfect complement. The person with whom silence is most comfortable; the person who completes me in every way.

We dreamed of a future. I breathed in deeply, trying to stop the tears that had already started to fall. In an instant, I could imagine our wedding. Smiling at each other at the altar. Being pronounced man and wife. Hearing echoes of applause and congratulations ring in my ears. Then, there we were in the hospital, but for something good: the birth of our baby. I held our child in my arms as Jake sat beside me, beaming. I saw us in our front yard, playing catch with our two kids, laughing. The tears fell rapidly down my cheeks. We were gathered around the kitchen table, feasting on a big breakfast of pancakes. I inhaled deeply again. Jake and I were older, at his dream house—the house by the brook—sitting on the porch, holding hands. I trembled with despair and anger.

It was supposed to turn out like that.

It was supposed to work out.

How did I end up here?

The lies between my parents and I came to light and now I’m working on a new life for myself. Along the way, I have my trusty superhero, Mason, to lean on when I have a hard time standing or when my crazy ex-boyfriend continues to feel he has a claim on me.

Porter has trouble understanding that there hasn’t been an ‘us’ for more than three years plus all the issues he had brought upon himself. My father was right, drugs do kill. My other concern is the growing feelings I am having regarding Mason. There’s something between us I want to explore but I keep getting mixed signals. Here, I thought that after telling my parents about my lies and having their full support, things wouldn’t be as complicated as they are.

Mason

My parents divorced before I even made my entrance into this world. My father has been obsessed with that love for years while my mother searches for love in all the wrong places. I don’t want a place to call home or a girl I can claim as mine. Except… Ainsley Janine –better known as ‘Nine’—has some special power that makes me question my preferences. The more I try to stay away from her, the more she pulls me closer.

Exploring the possibilities of having something steady in my life isn’t a problem; it’s the long term that worries me. In addition to that, the scumbag she dated years ago keeps popping up everywhere we go. If I could use my license to kill, maybe I can stop worrying about one thing and concentrate on what to do with the green eyed girl who keeps me awake most nights.

Pepped Up and Ready (Pepper Jones #3)

(This is the third book in the Pepper Jones series. The following description contains spoilers for Pepped Up and All Pepped Up. It is highly recommended that you read the books in order.)

Pepper is finally a senior, and she’s determined to defend her national cross-country title. Although Jace is busy with the demands of college football, he’s still at Pepper’s side, supporting her goals. But is she taking her renewed enthusiasm for training too far?

As Jace and Pepper focus on their athletic ambitions, they discover that Jace’s social status has followed him to college, despite his attempt to keep a low profile. With her boyfriend as an idol on campus, Pepper discovers that she might just be a target to those who find Jace threatening.

Are Jace and Pepper strong enough to withstand the pressure from those who want something from them? It won’t be easy fighting for her title and her boyfriend, but nothing easy is worth winning… or keeping.

excerpt

It’s just me and Jace in the room now, and he tugs the bottom of my tee shirt until I’m close to him. There’s no denying how I feel any more. The fear is weighing down on me, making it hard to breath.

“Pep,” Jace’s voice is pained, and I know he can read the emotions on my face. “It’s going to be okay, you know? Of course it will be different, but we’ll be fine.”

“Yeah, I know.” The confidence in my voice is false, and we both know it. “I just hate change,” I finally admit after a moment of silence. And upon that admission, a stupid tear escapes and trickles down the side of my face. I quickly wipe it with the back of my hand and look away. “Argh!” I feel like stomping my foot in frustration, hating myself for acting like such an emotional girl.

This is Jace Wilder, and you don’t ease into anything with him. We won’t ease into this transition. It will come on full force, like everything does with Jace. And when it hits us we won’t be the same. Maybe it will be a good change, and maybe it won’t.

Eight years ago a tornado devastated the community of Glen Springs. That same night my heart was torn to shreds when he left. Now, all I have to live for is work. I’m successful and have a good life, just like he wished. So, why am I so unhappy?

A tragedy is bringing me home and I’m now finding my well ordered and successful life hurled into a whirlwind of uncertainty. The biggest threat of all comes in the shape of Charlie Haart, the number one reason I have stayed away from Glen Springs for so long.

excerpt

Emma had begun to finally relax. She leaned her pale face up towards him and slowly began to kiss him, much to his surprise. He could feel the gratitude and emotion flooding through her kiss to his lips. She began to deepen the kiss and slowly moved her cool and clammy hands up and under his shirt, gently tracing up his defined stomach ending at his muscled chest. It felt amazing.

Groaning heavily, he pulled himself away with everything he had, “Em, please don’t start anything you don’t want to finish, sweetheart. I want you so much. I want to do this more that you’ll ever know, and it’s killing me, but I’m not doing this here, not tonight. Not our first time together. I wanted it to be perfect for you and this isn’t. This… this is just not the time and place, sweethe…” and before he finished she was on him, straddling across his thighs kissing him more fervently than ever before. He could feel her heat through their layers of clothing, heating a spot on his thighs through the warmth she was emitting. She was obviously turned on by the passionate kiss. His pants started to pull tight over his now uncomfortable groin. He almost came undone when she began delving her tongue deep into his mouth, giving him full access to hers. He greedily took everything she had to give with his mouth and offering her as much in return.

She pulled away, breathing heavily as she looked right into his eyes. He felt everything else melt away as he knew she saw right into his soul. His heart skipped several beats as he returned her gaze. Heat radiated from between her legs and felt like it was searing his thighs through the layers of cotton between her and his bare skin. The immense effort it took to restrain himself caused him incredible discomfort as his nails dug hard into his fisted palms and the skin of his knuckles stretched taut over his bones. Pleading and gazing at him with such passion and need in her eyes, she whispered, “I totally disagree, Blaze. You have just saved my life, and I want this now more that I have ever wanted anything else.”
