My Review

Her Christmas Cowboy (Copper Mountain Christmas #5) by Katherine Garbera

This sweet Christmas story is about Felicity and Lane.  They both have some issues when about relationships. Their issues are for different reasons but when Felicity falls on a patch of ice and Lane goes with her she recognizes those eyes.

Lane Scott is a double amputee and is a retired Marine, I love how this story shows the emotions that Lane is going through. His thoughts and how hard it can be to be a double amputee. Can Lane put the emotions aside for a relationship with Felicity?

Felicity is an elementary school teacher and her mother loves Christmas so much that she goes overboard. She was trying to get away before her mom saw her and that is when she fell on the patch of ice with Lane. She had so much on her mind that she needed to get done before Christmas that she wasn’t thinking. That is how she fell and her high school crush went with her. When they both got back up Lane asked her to get some Hot Chocolate and so the story starts.

I really loved both characters and felt that the author did a fantastic job of bringing them to life. The story felt real and their relationship issues felt real. I love reading this story.

Wed by Wednesday (Passion in Paradise, #0.5, #1)Wed by Wednesday by Sarah O’Rourke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wed By Wednesday (Passion In Paradise) by Sarah O’Rourke.
I have not read the other books in this series but I plan on it.
I really love this sweet story of how Orla and Jethro met. This story gives the background of Orla and Jethro and how they got together. I love mail order bride stories and this one is well written and totally a twist at the beginning. Did I say sweet? Well Orla is a sweet, pretty much naïve city girl and saw an ad for a man looking for a wife and started writing to Jethro, ok I am leaving it there because you will have to read the book I am not giving any spoilers out.

Jethro is a very successful hard working farmer; he has no time for women. He also takes care of his Stepmother and his half-brother. Since I am not telling you about the storyline I will tell you that I had tears, tears of joy and sadness. I also laughed.

The author is great with words and makes you feel like you are right there. Well some places I really didn’t want to be there but it is a story. This is a hot steamy book with plenty of love. There are love scenes, swearing and snow. Oh, and farm animals and remember Orla is a city girl from the 1960’s. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
I did receive a copy of the book from the author.

He seems like the wrong choice but she can’t seem to get enough of him.

Rio and Stacy are going to find out that sometimes what you believe is completely and totally wrong.

My Review

Waiting for Rio by Marie Cole. This is the 3rd book in the series and the first one I have read.
I felt the story started kind of slow for me. The story starts out with Stacy POV, she is in a taxi with a hot guy she met at a bar, had a one night stand and hoped to never see him again. Then to Rio his POV, who couldn’t believe he slipped up and got drunk and had a one night stand. Well it seems Stacy’s friend Elly who didn’t know about the one night stand was meeting up with Rio and his band to try out for a singing gig. Elly needed a ride and asked Stacy to take her. What a surprise when Stacy and Rio figure it out. I loved that part.
For me the story started slow but did get better. I loved reading the story in each of theirs POV. That did help me to like and understand their characters. I personally didn’t read the blurb before reading the book. I really had no clue where Rio was coming from, or what happened with his family. Even though the story of Rio did develop though out the story I felt some could have come sooner rather than later. I also like the fact that the book did deal with alcoholism and taking steps to recover. Both characters are strong willed people and that is good.
Best part of this book is when Stacy and Rio figured it out. This was a fun and enjoyable book to read. I also liked how they tried to stay away from each other to deal with their own issues but they still kept ending up in the same room. The ending is interesting but still good could have been more. I felt it was worth reading and will be reading the first two books in this series.

A Northern Gentleman by Lane Everett #BookReview

Blurb

Handsome and quick-witted Drucker May is miserable in the privileged life that he leads working at a bank in Atlanta.

So he runs away.

He wants to find what it is that he’s really supposed to do with his life and he wants to have a good time doing it. Because the year is 1890, the people who he meets after he leaves Atlanta have no easy way to find out who he really is, allowing Drucker to reinvent himself in each stop that he makes along the way to California.

As he travels, he explores late 19th century America as well as his own identity – both real and mistaken – all while solving a mystery, falling in love and getting caught up in a wild west caper gone awry.

This story isn’t just a rollicking ride from one town and one mistaken identity to the next, though. It’s the tale of a man trying to strike a balance between his responsibility to his family and his desire to be his own man. Alternately moving and laugh out loud funny, A Northern Gentleman chronicles the adventures that unfold when one man decides to leave his boring desk-work behind to seek out the life he’s meant to lead and to find that special something that his life has been missing.

My Review

A Northern Gentleman by Lane Everett is a very entertaining story. I was totally enthralled the with whole book.  The story about Drucker May (How did the author come up with his name?) he is the son of the bank president and of course his father was grooming him to be the bank president. Drucker had other ideas. He didn’t like working in the bank, he wanted to get out of there and find more out of life. He decided to leave Atlanta and go to Boston to see if he can find his governess.  Somehow he ended up on the wrong train. He seems gullible but wants to have a different life then his parents. So now he is on the wrong train going to the wrong town, he ends up in Clayton, Arkansas. He is mistaken for a Pinkerton Detective which Drucker didn’t deny. When he is done there he gets on the train and ends up in Austin. He seems like he is a likable person and his looks also must have make he appear friendly. When his time is up he is going to California but ends up in Jerome, AZ. (I have been to Jerome a few times. Interesting and active ghost/mining town.)  Well he is gullible and this story is interesting. He eventually gets to Southern California.

I found the characters to be real and felt that the author did a great job of developing them. I was intrigued and wanted to know how the story ended. Of course I had to read the whole book.  I love reading historical fiction. I also love the fact that the author stated at the end that this is a historical fiction and some parts are taken from history. I really like it when an author adds that disclaimer. I thought the author’s use of the real history for the time period, late 1800’s was an added plus.

if you love reading historical fiction and enjoy an adventure this is a awesome book to read.

When a ranch abutting the national park goes up for sale, Steve will do whatever it takes to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. The more time they spend together, the deeper their attraction becomes, and a game of cat and mouse turns into an unstoppable connection. But when Shannon’s assignment comes to an end, will it mean an end to them, too?

Review-Banner

I love reading series of books. I love getting to know the characters in a story. This one about Shannon and Steve was fun to read.  I really loved the plot, the story of Shannon and Steve. Shannon was in Colorado doing some field research. Shannon had met Steve at her cousin’s wedding and decided to go back and see if there were any sparks. I thought the story started kind of slow. Even though this is part of a series and can be read alone I had a little trouble remembering how all the people fit in. That isn’t really important though. I think it is just me. I thought Shannon was sweet happy go lucky type of gal. Steve who works as a ranger and loves his solitude in the mountains wasn’t too excited to see her come back to his mountain to work.  Then again he was very happy to see her. As I kept reading the story, I loved how the story went. I loved the detail of the story. The characters Shannon and Steve worked well. I also thought how they came together to work on a project that was so important to Steve and he was amazed at how good Shannon did to organize the event and make something happen that Steve never thought could. I don’t like to give away the plot. For me this was a good happy book. A Sweet romance, with lots of steamy romance.  I also want to mention I love the nicknames. So perfect!!

The author Melissa Foster does well with writing this series and leaves me wanting to read more. I have read a few others and I do love the character’s.

I want to thank Tasty Book Tours and Melissa Foster for the ARC.

Hit The Road, Jake! (The Lindsey Lark Series Book 3)

by Cricket Rohman

Blurb

Thrilling, romantic, and sprinkled with humor, HIT THE ROAD, JAKE! reinvents the ‘buddy movie’ concept with the written word … and a pretty woman. Jake and Lindsey are good at tracking down offenders responsible for petty theft and blackmail, but when new mysteries become personal—slashed tires, spattered blood, steamy love letters, a stolen pet—everything changes.

Who is this enemy that secretly harasses them from town to town? Jake calls in some favors and manages to finagle the DNA testing of several blood samples. The results are shocking, and the dangers they face become deadly.

Practically newlyweds, the couple thought they’d created the perfect win-win plan. While traveling between Tucson and Estes Park in their RV, Jake would solve embarrassing mysteries that schools wished to keep under wraps, and Lindsey, being the ‘cover’ for their presence, would conduct workshops for teachers. Then all hell broke loose.

“Cricket Rohman really nails it! She gives her readers a ton of depth in both the story line and character development. A great, fun read!”
—Lala Corriere, author of Bye Bye Bones: A Cassidy Clark Novel

My Review

Hit the Road, Jake! (The Lindsey Lark Series book 3) by Cricket Rohman is the third book I have read by the author. I really like her style. I love the fun, and dialog between the characters. The plots are fantastic and I like how the author timed the twist in the plots. It is fast paced and twist that I wouldn’t have guessed. I really love that I couldn’t guess the twist in the plots. Some books you can figure it out pretty quickly but Cricket Rohman seems to write the story and keeps her readers guessing and wanting more.  I am of fan of cozy mysteries and then was fits perfectly.

I don’t think you have to read the first two in the series but I highly recommend it that way you can understand the characters better. This story is about Jake and his new bride Lindsay with their dog Wendell, if you love dogs you will love Wendell. I want a Wendell. Oh and yes their pet bird Malcom. Jake wants to write detective stories and Lindsay is a teacher but she goes around teaching other teachers her art journal method of teaching kids. Such a great idea. I wish I had a teacher like that when I was young. I loved art.

When a school invites them to come and do a workshop, there is usually a mystery going on at the school, Jake is kind of undercover and works with the person who wanted them to figure the mystery out and Lindsay teaches the teachers.  I also love that they are from Arizona, since that is where I am from and love reading what the author writes about the cities. I am personally needing a little weekend away trip to Flagstaff.  They also visited New Mexico and Colorado in their RV with their animals. Of course there are plenty of adventures on their trips.

I loved the whole plot and the twist and the way she brought in other characters from the previous books. I loved the ending and I am hoping there is more. I am not a writer, but I can think of a few more books in this series.

I give the story and the series five stars. I loved it all. The summer is hot here in Arizona and I enjoy reading a good story.

Personal note:

I was asked to read and review this book, I didn’t realize it was the third in the series. I prefer to read books in order if I can. I did purchase the first two in the series and thought they were great as well. Labor Day weekend and leading up to the weekend is hard for me and I really needed something fun to read. This series was really fun to read. I could not guess what the author was planning next and I really love reading a story and not knowing what is going to happen. I am hoping there are more in this series. I really enjoyed the authors writing style and thought it was fun. I am not a writer just a reader. I loved to read books. I also love to craft and have started a few art journals. But right now my passion is reading.

Wanted: An Honest Man by Cricket Rohman

The Lindsey Lark Series Book 1

Blurb

With a little mystery and a little romance, WANTED: AN HONEST MAN captures the bittersweet growth of a young woman trying to make sense of her turbulent life.

Lindsey, a beautiful, talented teacher is a fighter and a positive thinker, but after the man of her dreams betrays her, then steals her beloved dog, she struggles. Strange, threatening phone calls begin to haunt her. A stalker, perhaps? Though she doesn’t want to be alone, she isn’t ready to go looking for new love, but men find her anyway.

A handsome college student involved in some tricky human research gets into trouble in more ways than one. His inherent propensity to play detective, though helpful at times, seems to attract Murphy and his darned Law far too often … and now his eyes are on Lindsey. Will his heart follow?

My Review

Wanted: An Honest Man (The Lindsey Lark Series Book 1) by Cricket Rohman is the first book I have read from this author. The first book in three.  The first thing that intrigued me about reading this book was the fact that the characters live in Arizona. Yeah same place that I do. I will say the author was right on spot with all her Arizona references which makes me really happy. I also love this genre, Women’s Fiction, Romance, Contemporary and some action and adventures. There are lots of twists to keep your mind thinking of what is going to happen next.

I also enjoyed reading the story, Lindsay is a kindergarten teacher, she is sweet and smart when it comes to being a teacher. But her personal life is not going well.  She is married to Anthony and well he leaves her for Shawna, a young stripper. Oh and by the way he is a doctor. She also has her best friend Laurie who is also a teacher with her at school. They grew up together in foster care. Lindsay seems like the perfect teacher, and that she really enjoys teaching her students. I really felt the author did a fantastic job with Lindsay’s character. She is very likeable and maybe a little gullible but we can all grow and she is young.  Oh and there is the young cute Chinese food take out driver. Jake, what a great character, I wont tell you to much about him but I like him. All the characters are interesting and make the story.

I really loved the book right from the start, the plot moved along at a perfect speed, the story was never dull and I couldn’t wait to read the whole book. The adventures of Lindsay were fun. The very last adventure I felt was a surprise, I know I would never do that. I can’t tell you what it is, you will have to read the book. I enjoyed the writing style and felt the author did a great job. I felt the twist in the story were fun and some unexpected. For me the book was nice and fast paced. I can’t wait to read the 2nd book in the series.

For the most part this is a clean romantic book. But there was sex, not really descriptive and some swear words. There were some issues with a few of the children and I loved how Lindsay handled that. I mean being a teacher you have a lot to deal with. This book was fun and seem so real life. I give it 5 stars for being really good, entertaining me and making me want to read the next book.

Letters, Lovers, & Lies (The Lindsey Lark Series Book 2)

By Cricket Rohman

Blurb

Mysterious, romantic, and sprinkled with a few heartwarming students and a delightful dog, LETTERS, LOVERS, & LIES captures the importance of persistence and the power of love. Jake and Lindsey are in love, but so much stands in their way. Letters from a dead man. Unwanted advances from a transgender acquaintance. Separation and jealousy. A few things in the couple’s favor? They are smart, multi-talented, and they love to laugh.

Lindsey Lark, keynote speaker, goes on tour while her boyfriend, Jake, writes a detective novel. Sounds simple enough, but a mystery soon dominates their lives when bizarre notices of her ex-husband’s funeral arrive. Foul play is suspected and murder is on someone’s mind.

Lad, a retired Secret Service agent, is Lindsey’s right-hand man for the duration of the tour. He’s handsome, he’s a man of few words, and, as the list of threats lengthens, he takes on the role of bodyguard, much to Jake’s dismay.

“Cozy mystery lovers and romantic drama buffs will enjoy the twists and turns as Jake and Lindsey rush to solve their personal whodunit before it’s too late.”
—John Reinhard Dizon, author of The Nightcrawler Series

My Review

Letters, Lovers, & Lies (The Lindsey Lark Series Book 2) by Cricket Rohman was an exciting second book to read in this series. This is the 2nd book I have read from this author.

I found that I loved the way she continued the plot line and characters from the first book to the second flawlessly.

The story is about Lindsay and now she is a keynote speaker teaching teachers how to teach writing through art journaling. Great idea in my opinion. Her boyfriend is trying to write a detective novel. There are quite a few mysteries and plot twist throughout this story. While she is traveling with the tour she has a “bodyguard” Lad who makes sure Lindsay has everything she needs to be able to do her job. There is so much packed into this story. The characters are fun and unique and also creepy as well. I love how the story is written and kept me guessing throughout the book.  The ending of this book is fantastic. I loved it.
