Melt My Heart, Cowboy (Love at the Chocolate Shop, #1)

Melt My Heart, Cowboy by C.J. Carmichael

Love at the Chocolate shop #1

Who is the handsome cowboy who comes into small town Marietta’s chocolate shop every week to buy a box of chocolates? More importantly…who is he buying the chocolates for? These are the questions sales clerk Rosie Linn asks herself as she waits for her sadly neglected childhood home to sell so she can pursue an exciting new career in L.A.

Rosie finds out the answers the day rugged ranch hand Brant Willingham introduces himself and asks for her help in managing the care of his younger sister. Brant’s mother has recently died, leaving him the sole guardian of eighteen-year-old Sara Maria–who has been a puzzle to Brant ever since she began exhibiting signs of autism at age two.
Rosie and Brant come up with a plan. She’ll help with his sister if he handles repairs and a new paint job for her old house. It seems the perfect solution, but a new dilemma is created when the couple start spending time together. Brant discovers he doesn’t want Rosie to sell and leave, and Rosie fears she will have to choose between love and her dreams.

Melt My Heart, Cowboy (Love at the Chocolate Shop, #1)Melt My Heart, Cowboy by C.J. Carmichael
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved reading Melt My Heart, Cowboy by C.J. Carmichael. Fantastic storyline, the characters work well and are interesting to read. This is the first in the series of the Love at the chocolate Shop. My first thought when reading this book was I needed some Himalayan salted chocolate caramels because these are my favorite types of chocolate to eat and I am really sure that Sage’s chocolates are the best. Ok well on to the story.
This story is about Rosie and Brant. Rosie works part time at the Copper Mountain Chocolate shop and Brant came in every Friday for the last 3 months. Brant bought the same chocolates every Friday. I really felt this story worked well. I also love how this series has rescue dogs and Rosie has a rescue dog name Huck, he is a big part in this story. I would love to have a dog like Huck.  The author came up with a really good storyline and was very enjoyable to read. This book coordinate with the rest of the series and makes it easy to want to read them all. I felt this story had it all, love, romance, rescue dog, Marietta, small town charm, chocolate, 2 people destined to be together and of course family, there is always family. I will say that Brant did have a hard time with his sister and was pretty much thrown into taking care of her. I think the author did a great job of incorporating his sister into the story and making her real and the issues are real.
I love the town of Marietta, Montana and love reading about the people who live there. This book was hard to put down, can easily be read in a day or so. I received an advance copy from the publisher via Netgalley.

My Review

Her Christmas Cowboy (Copper Mountain Christmas #5) by Katherine Garbera

This sweet Christmas story is about Felicity and Lane.  They both have some issues when about relationships. Their issues are for different reasons but when Felicity falls on a patch of ice and Lane goes with her she recognizes those eyes.

Lane Scott is a double amputee and is a retired Marine, I love how this story shows the emotions that Lane is going through. His thoughts and how hard it can be to be a double amputee. Can Lane put the emotions aside for a relationship with Felicity?

Felicity is an elementary school teacher and her mother loves Christmas so much that she goes overboard. She was trying to get away before her mom saw her and that is when she fell on the patch of ice with Lane. She had so much on her mind that she needed to get done before Christmas that she wasn’t thinking. That is how she fell and her high school crush went with her. When they both got back up Lane asked her to get some Hot Chocolate and so the story starts.

I really loved both characters and felt that the author did a fantastic job of bringing them to life. The story felt real and their relationship issues felt real. I love reading this story.

Thanks to Tule Publishing and Netgalley for giving me an ARC.

Wed by Wednesday (Passion in Paradise, #0.5, #1)Wed by Wednesday by Sarah O’Rourke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wed By Wednesday (Passion In Paradise) by Sarah O’Rourke.
I have not read the other books in this series but I plan on it.
I really love this sweet story of how Orla and Jethro met. This story gives the background of Orla and Jethro and how they got together. I love mail order bride stories and this one is well written and totally a twist at the beginning. Did I say sweet? Well Orla is a sweet, pretty much naïve city girl and saw an ad for a man looking for a wife and started writing to Jethro, ok I am leaving it there because you will have to read the book I am not giving any spoilers out.

Jethro is a very successful hard working farmer; he has no time for women. He also takes care of his Stepmother and his half-brother. Since I am not telling you about the storyline I will tell you that I had tears, tears of joy and sadness. I also laughed.

The author is great with words and makes you feel like you are right there. Well some places I really didn’t want to be there but it is a story. This is a hot steamy book with plenty of love. There are love scenes, swearing and snow. Oh, and farm animals and remember Orla is a city girl from the 1960’s. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
I did receive a copy of the book from the author.

Nothing and no one has been able to help him. Until her.

Stacy is determined not to follow in her mama’s footsteps and is committed to making a life for herself without a man by her side. But a drunken one-night stand pushes Stacy towards a man who she never would have picked out for anything other than his hot body and his bad boy attitude. He seems like the wrong choice but she can’t seem to get enough of him.

Rio and Stacy are going to find out that sometimes what you believe is completely and totally wrong.

My Review

Waiting for Rio by Marie Cole. This is the 3rd book in the series and the first one I have read.
I felt the story started kind of slow for me. The story starts out with Stacy POV, she is in a taxi with a hot guy she met at a bar, had a one night stand and hoped to never see him again. Then to Rio his POV, who couldn’t believe he slipped up and got drunk and had a one night stand. Well it seems Stacy’s friend Elly who didn’t know about the one night stand was meeting up with Rio and his band to try out for a singing gig. Elly needed a ride and asked Stacy to take her. What a surprise when Stacy and Rio figure it out. I loved that part.
For me the story started slow but did get better. I loved reading the story in each of theirs POV. That did help me to like and understand their characters. I personally didn’t read the blurb before reading the book. I really had no clue where Rio was coming from, or what happened with his family. Even though the story of Rio did develop though out the story I felt some could have come sooner rather than later. I also like the fact that the book did deal with alcoholism and taking steps to recover. Both characters are strong willed people and that is good.
Best part of this book is when Stacy and Rio figured it out. This was a fun and enjoyable book to read. I also liked how they tried to stay away from each other to deal with their own issues but they still kept ending up in the same room. The ending is interesting but still good could have been more. I felt it was worth reading and will be reading the first two books in this series.

A Northern Gentleman by Lane Everett #BookReview @TheLaneEverett @LaneEverettAutho

A Northern Gentleman by Lane Everett #BookReview

Handsome and quick-witted Drucker May is miserable in the privileged life that he leads working at a bank in Atlanta.

So he runs away.

He wants to find what it is that he’s really supposed to do with his life and he wants to have a good time doing it. Because the year is 1890, the people who he meets after he leaves Atlanta have no easy way to find out who he really is, allowing Drucker to reinvent himself in each stop that he makes along the way to California.

As he travels, he explores late 19th century America as well as his own identity – both real and mistaken – all while solving a mystery, falling in love and getting caught up in a wild west caper gone awry.

This story isn’t just a rollicking ride from one town and one mistaken identity to the next, though. It’s the tale of a man trying to strike a balance between his responsibility to his family and his desire to be his own man. Alternately moving and laugh out loud funny, A Northern Gentleman chronicles the adventures that unfold when one man decides to leave his boring desk-work behind to seek out the life he’s meant to lead and to find that special something that his life has been missing.

My Review

A Northern Gentleman by Lane Everett is a very entertaining story. I was totally enthralled the with whole book.  The story about Drucker May (How did the author come up with his name?) he is the son of the bank president and of course his father was grooming him to be the bank president. Drucker had other ideas. He didn’t like working in the bank, he wanted to get out of there and find more out of life. He decided to leave Atlanta and go to Boston to see if he can find his governess.  Somehow he ended up on the wrong train. He seems gullible but wants to have a different life then his parents. So now he is on the wrong train going to the wrong town, he ends up in Clayton, Arkansas. He is mistaken for a Pinkerton Detective which Drucker didn’t deny. When he is done there he gets on the train and ends up in Austin. He seems like he is a likable person and his looks also must have make he appear friendly. When his time is up he is going to California but ends up in Jerome, AZ. (I have been to Jerome a few times. Interesting and active ghost/mining town.)  Well he is gullible and this story is interesting. He eventually gets to Southern California.

I found the characters to be real and felt that the author did a great job of developing them. I was intrigued and wanted to know how the story ended. Of course I had to read the whole book.  I love reading historical fiction. I also love the fact that the author stated at the end that this is a historical fiction and some parts are taken from history. I really like it when an author adds that disclaimer. I thought the author’s use of the real history for the time period, late 1800’s was an added plus.

if you love reading historical fiction and enjoy an adventure this is a awesome book to read.

A Sexy Mountain Man with a BIG Ax….Meet “Grizz”!

The Bradens at Peaceful Harbor #4
Melissa Foster
Releasing Sept 21st, 2016
World Literary Press

Steve Johnson is living his life’s passion watching over the Colorado Mountains as a ranger and wildlife consultant. But his peaceful life is upended when overzealous and insanely beautiful Shannon Braden flits back into his life after returning from a brief trip home to Maryland. He thought his attraction to her was under control—after all, she’s only in Colorado temporarily, and he doesn’t do casual affairs.

Shannon’s return to Colorado has as much to do with the game of cat and mouse she and Steve have been playing as it does the data she’s been hired to collect. But despite her efforts to explore the undeniable heat simmering between them, Steve’s intent on keeping his distance.

When a ranch abutting the national park goes up for sale, Steve will do whatever it takes to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. And when all his attempts fail, he’s left with no alternative but to follow Shannon’s guidance into the online world he abhors in order to raise the funds. The more time they spend together, the deeper their attraction becomes, and a game of cat and mouse turns into an unstoppable connection. But when Shannon’s assignment comes to an end, will it mean an end to them, too?

I love reading series of books. I love getting to know the characters in a story. This one about Shannon and Steve was fun to read.  I really loved the plot, the story of Shannon and Steve. Shannon was in Colorado doing some field research. Shannon had met Steve at her cousin’s wedding and decided to go back and see if there were any sparks. I thought the story started kind of slow. Even though this is part of a series and can be read alone I had a little trouble remembering how all the people fit in. That isn’t really important though. I think it is just me. I thought Shannon was sweet happy go lucky type of gal. Steve who works as a ranger and loves his solitude in the mountains wasn’t too excited to see her come back to his mountain to work.  Then again he was very happy to see her. As I kept reading the story, I loved how the story went. I loved the detail of the story. The characters Shannon and Steve worked well. I also thought how they came together to work on a project that was so important to Steve and he was amazed at how good Shannon did to organize the event and make something happen that Steve never thought could. I don’t like to give away the plot. For me this was a good happy book. A Sweet romance, with lots of steamy romance.  I also want to mention I love the nicknames. So perfect!!

The author Melissa Foster does well with writing this series and leaves me wanting to read more. I have read a few others and I do love the character’s.
